1st Hunters Hill Scouts
Annual Events
1st Hunters Hill has a few initiatives throughout the year in which we engage in the community. We enjoy these and they are a great way to not only engage and support other community efforts, we manage to raise some funds to help our organisation too! These initiatives are also based on the ethos of scouting and are all outdoor. Scouts, Cubs, Leaders and Parents all enjoy taking part in these truly great community activities.
Moocooboola Festival
Every August, 1st Hunters Hill Scouts set up the scouting tent and provide hearty food for attendees of this great local event.
Community Pageant: Moocooboola tradition is to have community groups enter into a parade. The Scouts never let the community down from rockets, to camp fires to outdoor long drops ! They have fun bringing together an entry every year. They were joint winners last year.
Australia Day & ANZAC Day
1st Hunters Hill Scouts and Cubs are integral to our community. We regularly support and embrace our involvement on Australia Day every January where we break the flag at our Hunters Hill Citizenship presentations. April sees us also take a part in our community's acknowlegement of the spirit of the ANZACs.
7 Bridges Walk
October sees our Windeyer Hall as a stop during this great event. We supply refreshments for all those who want to stop on their way around Sydney. Sometimes it is hard to find a spare bit of ground to rest weary legs but the regular music and entertainment helps soothe weary walkers.
Christmas Trees
The festive season is kicked off. Scout Trees are part of Hunters Hill. It is a real tradition. We not only see many locals of the area however also see people who travel from other areas to purchase our trees as part of their Christmas tradition.
Scouts, Cubs, Leaders, Committee members and Scouting families truly embrace this experience.
